Venetian Plaster and Treatments

Venetian Plaster is an Old World technique consisted of hand-applying (using a trowel) several layers of plaster made of powdered or ground marble or limestone, thinly applied to create a wall finish that had the visual depth, richness, cool touch, and natural elegance of stone or marble. The crystalline form of authentic earth pigments will catch the light and cause your walls to glow from within creating a look that is unattainable by any paint product.

Over time, as the lime crystallized in reaction to the air (carbonation), the plaster is returned to its original state of stone, creating a wall finish that has the visual depth, richness, cool touch, and natural elegance of stone or marble.

I was trained at Dundean Studios School of Decorative Arts in New Jersey in the proper use of the ancient northern Italian plaster art form and can transform any interior or exterior wall into a work of art.  I can make a drywall, wood or cement wall appear rugged and historical or modern and contempory using paste compounds of marble, lime, sea sand and cement. My European plastering techniques use Veneciano, Marmorino, Antico, Terra and Tuscany Venetian plasters. Please view some of my examples.

Marmorino may be applied over wood, gypsum, glass, foam, metal or other substrates.

Terra is a decorative colored cement base powder coating for exterior and interior use. This fungus and mildew resistant plaster can be applied to concrete, plaster, drywall, stucco and wood and is washable. That is why I used it for this shower stall

“I had a number of ¬†projects around the property, some of which needed problem-solving. Michael not only came up with solutions but then completed the projects in a timely fashion, for a reasonable price and did a beautiful job.”
